Guru Padmasambhava Prayer Flags
Prayer flags, when placed in prominent places like the rooftops of monasteries, (or if you don't happen to live in a monastery, your balcony, deck or in your garden), flutter in the breeze. The mantras and prayers written on them are then distributed freely by the wind for the benefit of all. The colors of the flags correspond to the five elements of Tibetan tradition: earth, air, fire, water, and limitless space.
Guru Padmasambhava, often regarded as a "second Buddha," was an Indian saint who helped establish Buddhism in Tibet. He was summoned to Tibet by Trisong Detsen, but as he approached the border from India, the hostile Bon gods are said to have unleashed thunderbolts, hail, driving snow and wind to try and deter him. Padmasambhava simply seated himself in meditation, and by the power of his meditative experience, he converted the demons into Dharmapalas- protectors of the dharma. He is considered to be the author of the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
By hanging these prayer flags you are attracting the benevolent blessings of Guru Padmasambhava and the mantras written on them to your home, your neighborhood and to the entire world.
This is a set of five flags measuring about 13" by 11" each.
